Appropriate precautionary measures have been taken to mitigate the ill effects of heatwave conditions - Yash Garg

All the business organizations, brick kiln union and poultry farm in the district have been instructed to make adequate arrangements to protect their workers from heat waves


Besides permanent guzzlers, new ponds have been dug to provide water to the wildlife in both the wildlife sanctuaries in the district

Panchkula - Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg said that appropriate precautionary measures have been taken to mitigate the ill effects of heat wave conditions.

He said that all the business organizations, brick kiln union and poultry farm in the district have been instructed to make adequate arrangements to protect their workers from heat and also to ensure the facility of drinking water at respective institutions. Besides, they have been asked to refrain from giving outdoor work to the workers during extreme summers and make first-aid arrangements at workplaces. The Health Department is organizing health check-up camps in industrial areas to make the institutions/workers aware about heat waves.

The Deputy Commissioner said that adequate arrangement of water has been made at both wildlife sanctuaries in the district namely Bir Shikargah and Khol Hi Raitan. Besides four permanent guzzlers at Bir Shikargah, eight ponds have been dug to provide water to the wildlife. In addition, water is being made available to the wildlife in big and small ponds through tube wells. Similarly, ten ponds have been dug in Khol Hi Raitan Wildlife Sanctuary to provide water to the wildlife.

He said that the field staff of Morni-Pinjore Forest Division Office has taken concrete steps to curb the fire incidents in the forest area. Two fire protection watchers have been deployed in each beat. Apart from this, plantation work is being carried out in the forest area in which fruit trees have also grown for the wildlife. He said that the Indian Red Cross Society, Panchkula branch is soon going to make workers and children aware about heat waves during first-aid training in industrial units and schools and colleges. Assistance of voluntary organizations working in the district will also be taken by the society to make the general public aware about the heat wave, he added.

Yash Garg said that the Health Department has made arrangements for AC/cooler and clean drinking water at every health facility. Apart from this, all health facilities upto PHC level are provided with ambulances to deal with any emergency situation. All the health facilities have been provided with a sufficient number of drugs and logistics, ORS packets, essential medicines, fluids, ice packs etc.
